The blog at TheFierySoul.com (herein known as “company,” “Site,” “we,” “us,” and “our”) is dedicated to women and women veterans to provide useful content and advice on life with mental health disorders. It is extremely important to us that your privacy is respected. This privacy policy explains what information we obtain from you and how we utilize it. “You” refers to anyone who uses, visits, and/or views our website.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When you visit our Site, we may collect personal data including but not limited to: your name, email address, personal account preferences; transactional data, such as purchase information; and technical data, such as information about cookies.

Personal data is not just created by your interactions with our site. Your personal data is also generated from technical processes, such as content forms, comments, cookies, analytics, and third-party embeds.

This information is collected any time you interact with our Site, to include (but note limited to) leaving comments on posts, subscribing to our newsletter, creating a personal account, making a purchase through our Site or an affiliate, sending us a message, and participating in surveys.

More concerning of privacy is the collection and retention of sensitive personal data, such as data concerning health. It must be noted that if you discuss personal health information by commenting on posts, you are thus making your information available to the public, therefore privacy is not guaranteed.

In addition to the personal data we collect, we collect it to personalize your experience on the Site, to allow us to produce content relative to your personal preferences, to provide exceptional customer service, and to ensure that advertisements are relative to your preferences. Additionally, your information helps us tailor promotions and offers from our affiliates and/or collaborators in exchange for a commission at not cost to you.

Additionally, like other websites, this website automatically collects certain information about you through Log Data and Google Analytics. Log Data is information about your computer’s Internet Protocol Address, which is your “IP” address, browser information, Internet Service Provider’s information, your operating system, and your browser type. Similarly, Google Analytics collects certain information about your location, browsing history, the pages you visit, equipment you used to access the website, traffic patterns, and other general patterns related to your use of the website.

This information is used to analyze website statistics related to your user behavior and interests, to help improve our performance and your use of the website, and to also enhance the services and products offered to you.

By default, our blog design program (WordPress) does not collect any personal data about visitors, but only collects the data shown on the User Profile screen obtained from registered users. However, some of our Site’s plugins may collect personal data.

Comments

When you leave comments on the Site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the your IP address and browser user agent string to aid in spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your submission of your comment, your profile picture (if provided, otherwise, it is a generic icon) is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. Cookies are files with small amounts of data including an anonymous unique identifier that a website sends to your computer’s hard drive when you are viewing the website. Just like other websites, we automatically collect some non-personally identifiable information including but not limited to your IP address, geographic location, language preference, date and time of visitors.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

Analytics

We utilize Google Analytics through MonsterInsights to analyze our Site’s statistics and learn about user behavior on our site to better enhance users’ experience. You may opt-out of having your usage behavior tracked by Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-Out Browser Add-on.

Who we share your data with

As a general rule, we do not disclose your personal information to third-parties without your consent, with the exception of the following circumstances:

  1. we may disclose your information to trusted partners, such as our website host, email marketing service provider, other service providers that assist in the operation of the website, and any other affiliates and collaborators whom we rely upon to provide you products and services offered here;
  2. we may disclose your information in order to comply with state or federal regulations related to copyright infringement lawsuits or any other legal claims related to the website; and
  3. we may disclose your information to our successor and/or acquiring party in the event of a merger, acquisition, restructuring, dissolution or partial sale in the future. However, your personal information will be transferred to the acquiring party in accordance with this privacy policy.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so that we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information that they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except for the inability to change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit such information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this Site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data that we hold about you, including any data that you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data that we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

We will retain any information you choose to provide to us until the earlier of:

We require only the information that is reasonably necessary to enter into a contract with you. We will not require you to provide consent for any unnecessary processing as a condition of entering into a contract with us.
